Introduction to AZTOR 20MG TABLET
AZTOR 20MG TABLET contains Atorvastatin which belongs to the group of medicines called Lipid-lowering drugs. It is used to reduce elevated high blood cholesterol levels (hyperlipidaemia) in patients when diet and lifestyle changes does not result in an adequate response.
Hyperlipidaemia is a condition characterized by increased levels of bad cholesterol and triglycerides (fats) in the blood. If left untreated, these fat particles deposits in the blood vessels and hinders blood supply to vital organs which may lead to various problems such as heart attack or stroke.
By reducing blood cholesterol levels, AZTOR 20MG TABLET can also prevent the risk of heart attack, stroke, angina or related health problems. AZTOR 20MG TABLET can be used both in adults and in children (aged 10 years or above).
Along with the treatment, you must follow a cholesterol-lowering diet, lifestyle changes and regular physical activity as instructed by your doctor to achieve better results. Avoid consuming alcohol or grapefruit juice while taking AZTOR 20MG TABLET as it may make AZTOR 20MG TABLET less effective.
Before taking AZTOR 20MG TABLET inform your doctor if you have any lung, liver, kidney or heart problems. You must also inform your doctor if you have diabetes, thyroid problems or a family history of muscle disorders.

HOW AZTOR 20MG TABLET WORKS
AZTOR 20MG TABLET is a lipid-lowering medicine. It effectively reduces the levels of bad cholesterol (LDL) and triglycerides in the body by blocking the action of an enzyme called HMG-CoA reductase that synthesizes cholesterol within the body. It also acts on the liver and improves the body’s ability to remove lipid particles from the blood. As a result, it reduces blood cholesterol levels and prevents its associated risks.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Take AZTOR 20MG TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. AZTOR 20MG TABLET can be taken with or without meals.
Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of therapy for you depending upon your age, body weight and health condition. Do not stop taking AZTOR 20MG TABLET without consulting your doctor.

COMMON
- Inflammation of the nasal passages
- Throat pain, nose bleeds
- Allergic reactions
- Increase in blood sugar levels
- Increase in blood creatine kinase
- Headache
- Nausea, constipation, indigestion, diarrhoea
- Joint pain, muscle pain and back pain
- Liver problems
UNCOMMON
- Anorexia (loss of appetite)
- Weight gain
- Dizziness
- Having nightmares, insomnia
- Tingling sensation
- Decreased sensation of pain or touch
- Changes in the sense of taste
- Loss of memory
- Blurring of vision
- Ringing in the ears followed by vomiting
- Bloating, abdominal pain
- Neck pain, muscle fatigue

- Swelling especially in the ankles (oedema)
- Raised temperature
RARE
- Visual disturbance
- Unexpected bleeding or bruising
- Cholestasis (yellowish discolouration of the skin and whites of the eyes)

WARNING & PRECAUTIONS
Pregnancy
AZTOR 20MG TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant women. Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it. Women of childbearing age must use a reliable contraceptive method to avoid pregnancy while undergoing therapy with AZTOR 20MG TABLET. However, if you accidentally become pregnant while taking AZTOR 20MG TABLET, stop taking it and consult your doctor immediately.
Breast Feeding
AZTOR 20MG TABLET is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women. Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.
Liver
AZTOR 20MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with severe liver diseases. It should be used with caution in patients with a history of liver problems. Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.
Alcohol
AZTOR 20MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients who consume large amounts of alcohol. Therefore, it is advisable to avoid alcohol consumption while taking AZTOR 20MG TABLET to achieve maximum benefits.
Driving
Do not drive or operate any heavy tools or machines if you feel dizzy or sleepy after taking AZTOR 20MG TABLET.
Before taking AZTOR 20MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you:
- Have an unexplained muscle pain
- Had any muscle problems in the past
- Have improper functioning of the thyroid gland
- Have personal or family history of muscle problems
- Are alcoholic
- Have diabetes
- Are overweight
- Have a previous history of stroke with bleeding the brain
- Have small holes or pockets in the brain due to a previous stroke
